On Tuesday, March 24th the Assembly Committee on Public Safety will hear Assembly Bill 2047, a proposal that would effectively convert every 3-D printer into a device subject to government oversight.
Please use the Take Action button below to contact Members of the Committee and urge them to OPPOSE AB 2047:
Assembly Bill 2047 prohibits the sale or transfer of 3-dimensional printers unless equipped with so-called "firearm blocking technology" designed to detect and prevent the printing of known firearm blueprint designs. Further, AB 2047 mandates that all certified manufactures of 3-D printers be listed on the California Department of Justice's website and creates a criminal offense for knowingly facilitating the circumvention of firearm blocking technology. On Tuesday, the Senate Public Safety Committee passed SB 948, dramatically expanding the scope and requirements of California’s Firearm Safety Certificate. SB 948 has been referred to the Appropriations Committee for further consideration.
On a positive note, the Assembly Committee on Public Safety unanimously passed Assembly Bill 1948, taking an important step toward extending the validity period for concealed carry licenses and reducing unnecessary burdens on law-abiding permit holders.
