The coming week will be another busy one for the Minnesota legislature, with additional gun control bills scheduled in committee as Governor Tim Walz's gun control wish list continues to expand.
On Tuesday, March 24th, three bills will be heard in the House; two in the House Public Safety Finance and Policy committee, and one in the Higher Education Finance and Policy committee. Please contact members of the committees and urge them to OPPOSE these bills by using the TAKE ACTION button below.
HF 3407, the House companion to SF 3661, ends the centuries-old practice of individuals building lawful firearms for personal use without government interference, and HF 4359 re-enacts a previous ban on binary triggers. Both bills will be heard in the House Public Safety Finance and Policy committee at 3:00 pm in room 120 of the Capitol.
HF 4362 prohibits visitors from carrying concealed weapons on college campuses, and will be heard at 1:00 pm in the Higher Education Finance and Policy committee in room G23 of the Capitol.
These hearings come on the heels of a proposed supplemental budget released this week by Governor Walz, utilizing the budget to pass punitive policy changes towards law abiding gun owners. His proposal includes an exorbitant new state tax of 10% on handguns and 11% on long guns and ammunition, prison bed funding for enforcement actions on banned firearm platforms if SF 3655 were to pass, and more.
Please contact Governor Walz's office to voice your opposition to the supplemental budget proposal by using the TAKE ACTION button below.
