On Tuesday, April 21st, the North Carolina General Assembly kicked off their yearly legislative session at the capitol in Raleigh. Even years are considered short sessions in North Carolina, limiting what legislation can be introduced and considered.
During this short session, the legislature can considered legislation previously vetoed. For 2nd Amendment supporters, this has all eyes on S50, a bill that allows permitless carry in the Tarheel State for those currently eligible for a carry permit. Having passed last year before being vetoed by Governor Stein, the bill is eligible for a veto override if 3/5th of each chamber vote to do so. The Senate already voted to override the Governor's veto last year. The future of S50 now sits in the House of Representatives.
The NRA has always supported an individual's ability to defend themselves and express the freedom's guaranteed to them by the Constitution. Gun owners should not have to ask permission to keep & bear arms.
