The General Court adjourned yesterday afternoon after the final voting sessions. While two pro-gun bills received final passage and will be transmitted to the Governor, H.B. 609 was tabled in the House after easily clearing the Senate in a 15-8 vote. H.B. 609 was a significant revamping of NH’s preemption law that would have radically reduced the regulatory state in New Hampshire, would have restored self-defense rights for state employees, and would have ended large swaths of gun-free zones, including in public universities.
Bills Headed to the Governor's Desk:
H.B. 1279 strengthens self-defense laws by clarifying that the use of force in defense of third parties is an affirmative defense.
H.B. 1365 increases privacy protections for license to carry applicants by removing requirements for references or employment information from the application form.
