On Friday, January 17, the Oregon Senate Interim Committee on Judiciary is scheduled to meet at 2:00 p.m. in Hearing Room F and discuss upcoming legislation for the 2014 session. On their committee work session agenda, scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., is Legislative Concept 154. While the language for LC 154 has not yet been released, reports indicate that this bill will be similar to Senate Bill 700 from the 2013 legislative session. SB 700 sought to criminalize otherwise lawful firearm transfers that don’t require a background check. Your NRA-ILA will continue to track this legislation and provide more information as it becomes available.
Members are urged to contact their state legislators and politely ask them to oppose any legislation that would infringe on the rights of Oregon citizens to keep and bear arms.
