In Cooperation With: Boulder Ranger District, Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest

Project Information

Date: Saturday July 21, 2001
Time: 8:30 am 12:00pm
Location: Lefthand Canyon
Take US 36 North out of Boulder to Left Hand Canyon Road (Greenbriar Restaurant on the South West Corner). Go 4.7 miles; it`s the first turn out on the right past the Willow Picnic Area (on left).

Project Details

This Lefthand Cleanup is a coordinated event between the Boulder Ranger District of the Arapaho/Roosevelt National Forest and the recreational community.

The goal of the clean up is to remove trash from an area used for target practice shooting. We hope that by cleaning this area we can discourage shooters from continuing to practice in this particular spot. If we are successful, other areas of our National Forests can remain open for responsible recreational firearm use.

The cleanup involves the collection and removal of spent shells and targets at a site dangerously close to a well-trafficked road., and the collection and removal of trash that is left just above the site.

We encourage anyone who wishes to help clean up this area for the safety of all users to join us. Bring rakes, shovels, and gloves. Pick up trucks are always useful to haul the filled trash bags down to the dumpster. Bring your lunch and come spend the morning with us improving our public lands.

Besides the volunteers that donate their time, Western Disposal donates a large dumpster, delivered and retrieved from the cleanup site. Snacks and water may also be provided.

After lunch, many of the participants will be enjoying the foothills around the project by hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling, or four wheeling in this multi-use area. Please join us for the day.
