New Mexico - Urgent !! House to Vote on HB 112 Thursday, February 7!!

On Thursday, February 7, the New Mexico State House of Representatives will vote on HB 112, a bill sponsored by Rep. Larry Larranaga to protect safe shooting range facilities from (1) nuisance lawsuits based on noise filed by individuals who acquire property near existing facilities; and (2) onerous local noise control ordinances which could significantly curtail shooting activities and shut such facilities down.

If steps aren’t taken to protect existing shooting facilities from development and encroachment, law enforcement and civilians could lose places to train in the safe handling and use of firearms, sportsmen would have to hunt for locations to sight-in their rifles, and competitive shooting events would be difficult to hold in the state.

Forty-four states have passed shooting range protection legislation. New Mexico is one of only six states that has not. Please contact your State Representative at once and urge him or her to support HB 112.
