The concealed-carry bill will most likely survive its first test in the Senate, its sponsor predicted Thursday after the bill was assigned to the Senate Agriculture Committee. Senate President Stan Matsunaka, after much speculation, announced the committee assignment for House Bill 1410, saying he wanted to give the bill a "fresh face" and douse rumors that he might assign it to a panel that would kill it. Democratic Sen. Jim Isgar of Hesperus is the Agriculture Committee chairman and a co-sponsor on the bill.
