Speaker J. Dennis Hastert said today that House leaders had not decided whether to allow a vote on extending a ban on assault weapons that is scheduled to expire next year. "That bill has not been discussed by the leadership yet, and I have not had a discussion with the president yet," Mr. Hastert, Republican of Illinois, told reporters. "I am not ready to make that decision."
