NRA Adds Muscle in <br> Political and Lobbying Arm

Wednesday, January 5, 2005

Fairfax, VA - The National Rifle Association, the nation’s oldest sportsmen’s organization, will open 2005 by hiring new lobbyists in it’s political arm (National Rifle Association - Institute for Legislative Action) in preparation for an active and successful legislative year.  One of those new hires is Katie Grove, whom NRA has named as a state lobbyist.

“I am pleased to have Katie rejoin our team.  She’s a talented individual who will face challenges head-on.  We need employees of her caliber as we face an increase in legislative challenges in state capitols across the country,” said Chris W. Cox, NRA’s chief lobbyist.

Ms. Grove rejoins the NRA from Atlanta, GA, where she served as Chief of Staff for Georgia’s Senate Majority Leader, Bill Stephens. While working for Senator Stephens, Katie worked as liaison between the Senate Majority Leader and other elected officials, lobbyists and local and Capitol press corps. She also employed her talents to lead a successful 2004 re-election campaign for Senator Stephens.

Prior to working for Senator Bill Stephens, Ms. Grove managed government relations for WellStar Health System, working closely with both the Georgia General Assembly and healthcare-related membership associations to develop statewide legislative agendas and strategies.

Ms. Grove previously worked for National Rifle Association both as a Legislative Assistant and Program Coordinator for Women on Target. Katie now returns to promote and protect the Second Amendment at NRA in the political arena as a legislative liaison for state and local government firearms policy issues.

Katie graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs.
