Due to the phone calls generated by NRA members last week regarding Nevada law enforcement officials signing onto a Brady Campaign letter opposing H.R. 800, federal legislation to end reckless lawsuits against the gun industry, four of the five sheriffs whose names appeared on the letter have contacted the NRA about having their names removed.
Anti-gun organizations such as the Brady Campaign to Prevent Handgun Violence and the Million Mom March posted the opposition letter on their websites as a way to garner key support for their efforts. However, from information gathered by the NRA, it appears the Brady Campaign gave the sheriffs a briefing on their federal agenda and without the knowledge of the five sheriffs, their names were added to the list of national and state law enforcement officials opposing H.R. 800.
The four sheriffs who are requesting their names be removed are Ron Unger of Lander County, Gene Hill and Brian Jonas of Humboldt County, and Dennis Balaam of Washoe County. Please call and thank them for their quick action!

Washoe County Sheriff: (775) 328-3010

The only remaining sheriff who has not responded to the NRA with a definitive answer is Bill Young from Clark County. Please continue to call Sheriff Young and ask that he join his colleagues in saying "STOP" to the Brady lies. Please make the call today!
