Hazelwood, Missouri Enacts Hunting Regulations

On Tuesday, August 21, the Hazelwood City Council enacted a new hunting ordinance that continues to allow hunting in the city limits of Hazelwood, which includes the Missouri River floodplain.

Thanks to the hundreds of NRA members, sportsmen and gun owners who emailed, made phone calls and attended previous public meetings to express outrage at the original ordinance, which would have eliminated Missourians right to self-defense and hunting, the city council was forced to vote down that ordinance.   The City Council re-evaluated its position and came up with a new ordinance that will not infringe on Right-to-Carry or Castle Doctrine, or limit hunting in the flood plain, and will go into effect in September 2008. Your NRA representatives worked closely with the Missouri Department of Conservation to ensure this new ordinance would have no negative impact on the rights of Missourians. 

This new ordinance is the city’s response to enactment of Senate Bill 225 on August 28^th, the Hunting Heritage Protection Act, which will prohibit any new Tax Increment Financing (TIF) developments and infringement of hunting opportunities in the Missouri and Mississippi river flood plains.
