Numerous Pro-Gun Bills Need Your Help in Missouri!

Friday, February 15, 2008

There are currently several pro-gun bills awaiting action in the Missouri Legislature. House Bill 1651, House Bill 1975, and House Bill 1982 are all right-to-carry reform measures.  House Bill 2034, Senate Bill 860, and Senate Bill 1076 all work to reform range protection in the state.  House Bill 1765 works to protect concealed carry permit holders personal records and information.  Finally, House Bill 1798, establishes a Landowner Liability Protection Act.

Please contact your State Representative and respectfully urge them to support all of these important measures. Contact information for your State Representative can be found here.

House Bill 1651, sponsored by Representative Mike Dethrow (R-153), would change the laws regarding the firearms safety-training requirement for obtaining a permit to carry a concealed weapon by allowing proof of certain types of military service to satisfy the requirement:

House Bill 1765 , sponsored by Representative Michael Parson (R-133), would restirct public access to records of Right-to-Carry permit holders;

House Bill 1798 , sponsored by Representative Don Ruzicka (R-132), establishes the Landowner Liability Protection Act; which removes a landowner’s liability from those hunting on his or her property;

House Bill 1975 , sponsored by Representative Dwight Scharnhorst (R-93), increases the amount of time a Right-to-Carry endorsement is valid from three years to six years;

House Bill 1982, sponsored by Representative Mike Thomson (R-4), removes the six month residency requirement for qualifying for a concealed carry endorsement; and

House Bill 2034 , sponsored by Representative Brian Munzlinger (R-87), creates immunity from criminal and civil liability for noise or sound emissions resulting from the normal use of hunting preserves.

On the Senate side, please contact your State Senator and strongly encourage him or her to support and vote for the following measures.  Your State Senator's contact information can be found here.

Senate Bill 860, authored by State Senator Wes Shoemyer (D-18), prohibits the condemnation of property owned by a gun club or sportsmen's club, and;

Senate Bill 1076 , sponsored by State Senator Kevin Engler (R-3), provides for immunity from civil and criminal liability on the basis of noise for owners and users of hunting preserves and firearm ranges.
