New Mexico Legislature Obtains Funds for Albuquerque Public Schools’ Air Rifle Teams!

Friday, March 7, 2008

The Legislature adjourned sine die on Thursday, February 14 after completing its 30-day budget session. During this year’s session, Governor Bill Richardson (D) signed Senate Bill 471, sponsored by State Senator Carlos Cisneros (D-6), which includes capital outlay monies for projects and programs in state lawmakers' districts.

We would like to thank State Representative Bill Rehm (R-31) and Major W.E. Barker, USMC, coach of La Cueva High School’s air rifle team, for spearheading the effort among colleagues from the Albuquerque legislative delegation for obtaining more than $140,000 in funds for the purchase of new guns and equipment for Albuquerque Public Schools’ air rifle teams.  These teams have joined the upper echelons of junior shooting in both New Mexico and the United States.
