NRA-PVF Endorses Nan Hayworth for U.S. House of Representatives in New York’s 19th Congressional District

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Fairfax, Va.-- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Nan Hayworth for election to the U.S. House of Representatives for New York’s 19th Congressional District this November.

“Nan Hayworth will be a strong defender of the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in New York,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. “Hayworth has earned an ‘AQ’ rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.”

Hayworth supports national right-to-carry reciprocity, right-to-carry permit holder confidentiality and efforts to reform the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  She also believes sportsmen should have access to federally owned or administered lands for hunting, fishing, trapping and recreational shooting. She will fight against ongoing efforts to dismantle our Second Amendment by anti-gun politicians.

In contrast, Hayworth’s opponent, John Hall, has earned an “F” rating from the NRA-PVF for his long history of anti-gun activism. He refused to sign the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in the historic Heller case, asserting that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms, as well as the congressional amicus brief in the McDonald casesupporting the position that the Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that protects all Americans. Hall voted against a bill that would restore the rights of residents in our nation’s capital to own and use a firearm for self-protection and against the Protecting Gun Owners in Bankruptcy Act, which would ensure that those who filed for bankruptcy would not lose their firearms, thereby maintaining the fundamental right to protect themselves.  He also refused to answer NRA’s federal candidate questionnaire this year and in the past – a clear indication of indifference, if not outright hostility, to the rights of gun owners and sportsmen.

“Nan Hayworth supports our constitutional freedoms,” Cox continued. “We ask all gun owners and hunters in New York’s 19th District to vote Nan Hayworth for Congress on November 2nd.”
