Vote Expected on Two Pro-Gun Bills in Maine Committee Work Session TOMORROW

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Contact Members of the Joint Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee!

Maine legislators have been telling the NRA that they are not receiving many calls and e-mails from their constituents supporting LD 35 and LD 1347.   These pro-gun bills would be two major steps forward for gun owners and sportsmen, and your state legislators and the Joint Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee need to hear from you TODAY.

These bills are expected to be voted on in the Joint Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee Work Session TOMORROW at 4:00 p.m.  Please call and e-mail members of the Joint Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee TODAY and urge them to support LD 35 and LD 1347.  Contact information for committee members can be found below.  To contact your state Senator and state Representative to urge them to support LD 35 and LD 1347, click here.

LD 35, introduced by state Representative Richard Cebra (R-Naples), would prohibit an employer from banning an employee with a valid concealed firearms permit from keeping a firearm in the employee's vehicle as long as the vehicle is locked and the firearm is not visible.

LD 1347, introduced by Representative Cebra, would eliminate the prohibition on concealed carry permit holders carrying a concealed firearm in state parks and historic sites, premises licensed for the consumption of alcohol, state property under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Safety and the Legislative Council.
