California: Open Carry Ban Bill Could Be Voted on this Monday

Friday, May 13, 2011

Contact Your Assemblyman TODAY to OPPOSE AB 144!

Assembly Bill 144, the open carry ban bill, could be brought up for a vote in the full Assembly as early as this Monday.   Anti-gun activists think that removing guns from law-abiding citizens will lower California’s crime rate.  Who are they trying to kid?  Crimes are not being committed by law-abiding individuals who openly carry an unloaded firearm in California.

This bill is just another way those anti-gun activists are trying to further stifle law-abiding gun owners from exercising their right to keep and bear arms in California!

Introduced by anti-gun Assemblyman Anthony Portantino (D-44), AB 144 would change the state’s gun laws and prohibit law-abiding citizens from carrying an unloaded handgun openly.

It is imperative that you call and e-mail your state Assemblyman IMMEDIATELY urging him or her to OPPOSE AB 144.  Forward this alert to your family, friends and fellow gun owners and urge them to contact their Assemblyman also.  Contact information for your state Assemblyman can be found here.

Also, this Monday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. in Room 4203, the state Senate Appropriations Committee is scheduled to hear Senate Bill 427, which would further restrict ammunition sales.

SB 427, introduced by anti-gun extremist state Senator Kevin De León (D-22), would force licensed state ammunition retailers to obtain a special local license to operate in municipalities.  These retailers would also be required to notify local law enforcement before conducting business within their jurisdiction. SB 427 already passed in the state Senate Public Safety Committee by a 5 to 2 vote.

Please call and e-mail members of the Senate Appropriations Committee TODAY urging them to OPPOSE SB 427. Contact information for the Senate Appropriations Committee can be found below.

SB 427 will only hurt law-abiding gun owners from exercising their Second Amendment right and does nothing to stop crime.
