After passing legislation to decriminalize marijuana and legalize civil unions, Governor Jack Markell and members of the General Assembly have now sets their sights on your Second Amendment rights and are pushing legislation (Senate Bill 39) to ban private sales in gun shows in Delaware.
If enacted into law, Senate Bill 39 would ban all private sales at Delaware’s two gun shows. The true intent of this legislation is to move towards an ultimate ban on all private sales -- even those between family and friends – regardless of where they occur.
This legislation will do nothing to combat crime as criminals will continue to obtain firearms illegally. Even Governor Markell’s office admits in his FAQ’s on his gun control agenda that gun shows are not a “Delaware specific problem.” Targeting your Second Amendment rights because politicians won’t crack down on criminals is wrong and cannot be tolerated.
