Yesterday, Wisconsin’s Department of Justice (DOJ) reached an important milestone, issuing its 100,000th concealed carry permit. After only six months, this record-breaking number of applications and licenses demonstrate the demand for these permits and the success of this program in Wisconsin.
Since Act 35, the Personal Protection Act, took effect on November 1, Wisconsin’s DOJ has worked day and night to review and approve applications. This victory for law-abiding gun owners wishing to defend themselves is a testament to the never-ending dedication of the NRA membership, volunteers, the legislators who have championed our freedoms, and Governor Scott Walker who signed Act 35 into law last summer.
Thanks to the leadership and dedication of these individuals, residents and many visitors to the Badger State can be secure in their right to defend themselves from violent criminals. No longer will law-abiding residents of Wisconsin be left unarmed against criminals who would do them or their families harm.
