Nothing is more patriotic than the Second Amendment, auto racing, and the American flag. This weekend, fans at Daytona International Speedway will get to experience all three. The Bass Pro Shops Chevrolets, piloted by Austin Dillon in the Nationwide Series and Jamie McMurray in the Sprint Cup Series, will be adorned with patriotic colors as well as a promotion for the NRA Museum, a 10,000 square-foot facility slated to open in 2013 at the Bass Pro Shops Flagship store in Springfield, Missouri. This museum will complement the current museum at NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, Va.
A recent SunSentinal.com articlereports that, according to Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris, "Jamie and Austin are not only racers; they're also outdoorsmen and conservationists. This was an excellent opportunity for us to announce the NRA Museum being at our store in Springfield."
Driver McMurray went on to say, "I know that this is an exciting venture for Johnny Morris and all the folks at Bass Pro Shops to have the museum coming to the Springfield Bass Pro Shops store. I think the NRA Museum paint scheme looks great on our Bass Pro Shops Chevy and I look forward to having a strong showing with it at Daytona."
In addition to opening a new museum in Missouri, NRA is sponsoring the September 1 NASCAR Nationwide Series American Warrior 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. This event will celebrate and honor America's bravest and most respected fighting men and women.
Shooting sports and motor sports represent our American heritage and naturally complement each other in celebrating the American warrior. The motor sports are as uniquely American as the Second Amendment, and the NRA is proud to stand alongside Speedway Motorsports in serving our combined community of gun-owners and NASCAR fans. Representative of this large community is legendary NASCAR team owner and current NRA board member, Richard Childress. In addition to being one of NASCAR's most successful team owners, Childress is also an accomplished hunter and dedicated conservationist.
Also supporting the event is NRA Board Member and Fox News "War Stories" host, LtCol Oliver North, USMC (Ret.). LtCol North reports on American heroes for "NRA Life of Duty." These reports and the NRA American Warrior magazine are components of a new class of sponsored NRA membership, called "NRA Life of Duty." This membership program includes a state-of-the-art online network (NRALifeofDuty.TV, presented by Brownells) designed for those men and women who make their living defending the American way of life.
NRA American Warrior magazine is the NRA's bimonthly salute to all who serve, from the armed forces to law enforcement to first responders. Each issue of NRA American Warrior provides interactive media, videos and articles detailing the latest tactics and technology.
The first 25,000 who sign up for a FREE subscription to NRA American Warrior magazine (online at www.NRA.org/warrior, or text "Warrior" to 64274) will also receive a FREE race ticket to the NRA American Warrior 300. Sign up today!
