Three Things Every Gun Owner Must Do

Friday, November 2, 2012

In just a few short days, Americans will flock to the polls and cast their votes for the next President of the United States (as well as members of Congress, governors and state legislators).  The votes cast on Tuesday will affect the debate over the Second Amendment and our freedom not just for the next four years, but for the next 40!

All election season, NRA has been urging its members and supporter to go "All In!" to ensure candidates who support the Second Amendment are elected on November 6.  Now, with just a few precious days left until Election Day, voter turnout will be the key to our success.

Whether you can spare an entire day--or simply a few hours--over the next few days to assist in our mutual efforts, here are some things EVERY supporter of the Second Amendment MUST do:

  1. VOLUNTEER!:  Whether you work with your local NRA-ILA Campaign Field Representative, your NRA-ILA Election Volunteer Coordinator or directly with a pro-Second Amendment candidate's campaign, make sure you volunteer!  Campaigns are in their Get Out The Vote (GOTV) mode and will remain so until the last polling station closes on Tuesday.  Help is needed with phone banks, door knocks, literature and sign distribution, working the polls and driving voters to the polls.  Whatever you do, do something!  Even if you don't live one of the key "battleground" states, you can still help by making calls from home.  To volunteer to place calls into these critically-important states, contact one of our NRA-ILA Campaign Field Representatives.

  2. BE INFORMED & INFORM OTHERS.  Don't assume a candidate supports your gun rights, verify it!  Visit www.NRAPVF.org to see candidate grades and endorsements in your state.  To learn more about the threat an Obama second term poses to our Second Amendment rights, visit http://www.gunbanobama.com/.  Don't just keep this information to yourself, share it with your family, friends, and fellow firearm owners to make sure they know which candidates support the Second Amendment!

  3. LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED.  Ask yourself, if preserving the Second Amendment rights for our children and grandchildren isn't worth a few hours of your time, what is?  Every minute and hour you can spare to volunteer could make the difference and will determine what direction our country takes moving ahead.

The next few days are the culmination of our grassroots election campaign.  Time is running short between now and Election Day, but the opportunities for you to make a difference are vast!  We can't expect everyone to do everything in the waning days before Election Day, but we must work to ensure everyone does something!
