On Tuesday, the Topeka City Council voted unanimously to overturn its outdated prohibition against carrying loaded handguns in your vehicle. In a 10-0 vote, Mayor Bill Bunten and nine city council members furthered Kansas’ strong tradition of Second Amendment support by bringing the Topeka in line with the vast majority of the state. Roughly ninety percent of localities in Kansas allow its citizens to exercise their right to self-defense while driving. However, some of the more populous cities and towns continue to maintain a complete ban on loaded handguns in vehicles.
Your NRA-ILA applauds the Topeka City Council for their decision to restore the constitutional rights of their residents.
