California: Pleasant Hill City Council AGAIN Postpones Consideration of Stringent Requirements on Firearm Sales to November 4

Friday, October 25, 2013

On October 21, the Pleasant Hill City Council once again went in circles trying to decide what to do with an ordinance that would require all firearms dealers to obtain a police-issued permit from the City of Pleasant Hill and to comply with various burdensome requirements in order to lawfully sell firearms and ammunition in the City.  For an explanation of what this proposed ordinance would do, please click here.

If passed, this onerous ordinance would do nothing to reduce violent crime or firearm accidents in Pleasant Hill.  Criminals are not thwarted by gun control laws.  Those intent on misusing firearms and committing crimes, also known as violent criminals, will obtain firearms through theft or illegal transfers.  Firearms dealers are not the problem.  Indeed, Police Chief Moore again stated, “his department has not had any problems with the four firearms dealers in Pleasant Hill.”

The city council decided to postpone their vote on this ordinance to their next meeting scheduled for Monday, November 4.

Please continue to call AND e-mail City Council members urging them to OPPOSE this unnecessary anti-gun ordinance.  Members of the City Council can be reached at (925) 671-5267 and by e-mail at www.ci.pleasant-hill.ca.us/forms.aspx?FID=74.
