NRA Statement on Decisive Victories in 2015 Elections

Fairfax, VA – Chris W. Cox, chairman of the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF), released the following statement regarding the NRA’s decisive wins in the November 3rd elections:

We would like to thank NRA members and supporters who made the difference in races across the country.  Freedom had a great night at the ballot box.  In addition, we would like to congratulate NRA-endorsed candidates who did not waver in their commitment to protecting the Second Amendment.

In Virginia’s hotly contested races, voters sent a loud and clear message that their gun rights are not for sale. Despite the attacks from Governor Terry McAuliffe and over three million dollars spent by New York City billionaire Michael Bloomberg and out of state gun control groups, 92 percent of NRA-endorsed candidates won their elections and blocked an anti-gun majority in the Virginia Senate.

In the face of threats against their constitutional freedoms, NRA members and Second Amendment supporters throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia turned out in force to defeat New York City billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun agenda. Virginia voters undercut recent assertions by gun control advocates that the political calculus has changed. Bloomberg’s personal wealth doesn’t change the fact that Americans continue to support the Second Amendment. The rebuke of Bloomberg’s anti-gun campaign in a swing state like Virginia does not bode well for Hillary Clinton and other politicians who are running campaigns on an anti-Second Amendment platform.

In Kentucky, NRA members and Second Amendment supporters went to the polls to elect an NRA-endorsed Governor and Commissioner of Agriculture. In Mississippi, over 97 percent of NRA-endorsed candidates, including every statewide candidate, won. In addition, over 81 percent of Texans approved an NRA-backed constitutional amendment recognizing the right to hunt and fish.

By the Numbers:
