Two homeowners in Mississippi stopped an escaped murder suspect who had been holding their family hostage, ending a week long manhunt for the escapee. The suspect entered the home through the garage, forcing the husband and son into the back of the house and confining them to a bathroom.
After briefly freeing himself, the male homeowner struggled with the suspect and was stabbed in the shoulder. The suspect regained control and held the entire family in the bathroom. The female homeowner was allowed to leave the bathroom, during which time she retrieved a handgun and fired at the suspect. The female homeowner freed her husband from the restraints, who fired additional shots at the suspect before fleeing the home with the entire family. Police responded and found the suspect suffering multiple gunshot wounds; he was later pronounced dead at the scene. (WAPT, Vicksburg, Mississippi 03/11/2016)
