Kansas: Senate Committee Passes Gun Free Zone Legislation, Again

Last week, the Senate Committee of the Whole referred an amended version of House Bill 2278 back to the Senate Ways and Means Committee.  Today, the Senate committee stripped out a positive amendment rendering it back into its previously anti-gun state.  House Bill 2278 now goes back to the Senate for consideration.  Please contact your state Senator and immediately urge them to OPPOSE House Bill 2278 unless amended with NRA-supported language.

House Bill 2278 would make it unlawful for individuals to carry a firearm for self-defense into a state or municipal-owned medical care facility, including the Kansas University Hospital.  In addition, HB 2278 would prevent the lawful carry of a firearm into community health centers and state or municipal-owned adult care homes.  This bill is a solution in search of a problem, and it places an arbitrary boundary on your right to self-defense.

Again, please contact your state Senator and immediately urge them to oppose House Bill 2278 unless amended with NRA-supported language.
