Thursday, May 25, the Senate AppropriationsCommittee passed anti-gun bills, Senate Bill 464 and Senate Bill 497, on party-line votes. Both bills now head to the Senate floor for consideration. Please use our TAKE ACTION button below to contact your State Senator and urge him/her to oppose SB 464 and SB 497.
SB 464, sponsored by Senator Jerry Hill (D-13) would increase the storage and security requirements of all firearms in the inventory of a licensed firearms dealer. California already has some of the strictest laws in the country regarding how dealers must store and secure firearms. This bill simply places more costs and mandates on law-abiding business owners.
SB 497, sponsored by Senator Anthony Portantino (D-25), would expand the existing one handgun a month law to include ALL guns.
Unfortunately, Assembly Bill 986 was pulled from the Assembly Appropriations Committee schedule on Friday, May 26. AB 986, sponsored by Assembly Member James Gallagher (R-3), would have recognized the many sacrifices our veterans have made by reducing sporting license fees in recognition of their service. With this postponement, AB 986 has been defeated for this year.
