On Monday, January 8, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Department of Justice (DOJ) will be holding a public hearing to allow public comment on proposed “assault weapons” regulations. The hearing will be held at the Resources Building Auditorium, located at 1416 9th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.

In November, the California Department of Justice officially notified the public of its intent to adopt new regulations defining certain terms used to determine whether a firearm is an “assault weapon” under California law. If adopted, the latest regulations would incorporate regulations relating specifically to the registration process for “assault weapons,” that are currently being challenged by NRA and CRPA in state court, and improperly apply them to the identification of “assault weapons” for enforcement purposes.
