SB-1884 Preemption of Firearms & Ammunition by Sen. Ray Rodrigues (R) -- Stops local governments and state agencies who willfully violate the firearms preemption law from forcing people to sue them over violations then withdrawing illegal ordinances or regulations once suit is filed in order to make the lawsuit moot. Local Governments do this intentionally to avoid the law that makes them pay damages and attorney fees when sued to protect citizen rights. On Tuesday, 3/16/2021 the bill PASSED 6-3 in Senate Community Affairs Committee

SB-1924 Limitations on Emergency Powers of Political Subdivisions by Sen. Manny Diaz (R) contains language to limit the ability of local governments to impose “emergency” restrictions on guns during hurricanes, disasters or pandemics. On Tuesday, 3/16/2021 the bill PASSED 6-3 in Senate Community Affairs Committee

HB-1343 Issuance of Concealed Weapons & Firearms Licenses by Rep. Blaise Ingogolia (R) -- Stops Dept. of Agriculture (Comm. Nikki Fried) from arbitrarily shutting down the Concealed Weapons & Firearms License website and suspending the online application process in violation of state law which specifically prohibits the Dept. of Agriculture from regulating the process beyond what is allowed in state law. On Wednesday 3/17/2021 the bill PASSED 10-6 in House Civil Justice Committee

HB-259 Church Carry by Rep. Jayer Williamson (R) & Rep. Cord Byrd (R) Restores the private property rights of religious institutions AND the self-defense rights of people, licensed by the state to carry concealed firearms, who go to church. It allows churches to make their own decisions, however, it allows property owners who lease, rent or lend property to churches to put their wishes in the leases or contracts. On Wednesday 3/17/2021 the bill PASSED 12-6 in House Judiciary Committee

Amendment 707993 by Rep.Cord Byrd (R) PASSED and made HB-259 -- a Good Bill -- Better

Two unfriendly amendments were filed by Rep. Fentrice Driscoll (D) One was defeated and she withdrew the other one.
