West Virginia: Legislature Adjourns Sine Die

On Saturday, the Legislature adjourned sine die from its 2021 session. During this session, they passed a number of bills advancing Second Amendment rights for the benefit of law-abiding citizens, and sent them to Governor Jim Justice for his signature.

Senate Bill 263 allows online raffles to benefit charitable and public service organizations.

Senate Bill 458 ensures that Second Amendment rights remain protected during states of emergencies.

House Bill 2499 eliminates sales and use taxes for firearms and ammunition. Gov. Justice signed HB 2499 into law on April 9th.

House Bill 2694, the Second Amendment Preservation Act, prohibits West Virginia state and local authorities from enforcing federal gun laws, except for those that are the same as, or substantially similar to, West Virginia laws.

House Bill 2793 creates the option of a nonresident carry permit for West Virginia. Gov. Justice signed HB 2793 into law on April 9th.

This was a very productive session. NRA thanks all the lawmakers who worked hard to make these victories possible. NRA will be back in Charleston in 2022. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates.
