Maine: Red Flag Hearing Happening Despite Statewide Blackout

It appears that not even an April nor'easter that walloped Maine from Kittery to Fort Kent can stop anti-gun politicians from pushing their extreme gun control agenda. Currently, over 300,000 Mainers are without power and unable to leave their homes, but Bloomberg's ringleaders in Augusta like Senate President Troy Jackson (D-Aroostook), Speaker Rachel Talbot Ross (D-Portland), and Senator Anne Carney (D-Cumberland) are staying the course and holding a gun control hearing on Friday.

Tomorrow's hearing on LD 2283, "An Act to Enact the Crisis Intervention Order Act to Protect the Safety of the Public," will still be held despite Mainer's inability to attend or stream the hearing. The hearing will start at 12:00PM in the Judiciary Committee Room in State House Room 438.  For those interested and able to testify, you can do so in-person at the hearing or by signing up to testify via zoom HERE. In addition to participating in the public hearing, NRA members and Second Amendment supporters are urged to contact committee members NOW and request they oppose this extreme gun control bill.

LD 2283 is a last-minute submission by Speaker Rachel Talbot Ross (D-Portland) to replace Maine's Yellow Flag law with a more extreme Bloomberg-style Red Flag law. This Hail Mary attempt by anti-gun lawmakers in Augusta has prompted major push back, including Sen. Matt Harrington (R-York) calling the tactics "absurd" on the Senate floor. If passed, LD 2283 would remove protective barriers and streamline the process for government officials to strip you of your Second Amendment rights without due process.

Please stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for updates as this situation progresses.
