Kansas: Pro-Gun Amendment and Education Bill Pass House Committee

Thursday, February 13th, the House Federal & State Affairs committee favorably passed both HCR 5006 and HB 2104. These important pieces of legislation are now eligible for votes on the House floor.

Please contact your Representative and urge them to SUPPORT HCR 5006 and HB 2104 by using the TAKE ACTION button below!

HCR 5006 proposes an amendment to the state constitution's bill of rights, codifying that the Right to Bear Arms extends beyond arms to include ammunition and firearm accessories. Additionally, the amendment clarifies that restrictions to arms, ammunition or covered accessories would be subject to strict scrutiny.

HB 2104 establishes grade-appropriate curriculum guidelines to teach firearm safety to students of all ages. The course is based on NRA’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe® program and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism’s existing Hunter Education In Our Schools. NRA’s Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program has been teaching firearm-accident prevention for over 30 years, to help keep our children safe. As a result, the program has reached over 32 million children in all 50 states, plus Canada and Puerto Rico. For more information on this wonderful program, visit the website.

Please stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for updates as this legislative session progresses.
