On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the House Judiciary Committee held a markup for several bills, including two NRA-backed bills. With this crucial step in the legislative process now complete, these pieces of legislation can now be considered by the full U.S. House of Representatives.
The NRA’s top priority H.R. 38, "Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act" introduced by Representative Richard Hudson, a bipartisan bill, was reported favorably out of committee along party lines of 18 Yeas and 9 Nays.
Representative Tom Emmer’s "Firearm Due Process Protection Act," H.R. 2184, which provides a legal recourse for law-abiding Americans who were improperly denied the ability to legally purchase a firearm due to administrative errors during a background check was also reported favorably out of the committee by voice vote.
Both bills now advance for consideration by the full U.S. House of Representatives.
