SB 8 requires individuals to lock up all firearms in their home, vehicles, buildings or other structures. Under current law, individuals are required to safely store firearms in areas not accessible to anyone under 14, this legislation increases the age to 18 and includes prohibited persons and “at risk” individuals. This legislation could potentially strip law-abiding owners of their rights based on the actions of criminals and subjects them to civil fines up to $10,000.
