Today, April 14th, the Louisiana Legislature begins the 2025 legislative session. This year, the legislature has introduced a number of both pro-gun bills and anti-gun bills. The NRA is on the ground in Baton Rouge, working to further our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage.
Your NRA is highlighting the pro-second amendment bills that have been introduced:
HB 289, introduced by Rep. Dewith Carrier, is a pro-Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) bill that enhances protections for the firearm and ammunition industry members. The PLCAA protects members of the firearm industry from being held responsible for the third-party misuse of products they manufacture or sell.
HB 393, introduced by Rep. Dennis Bamburg, clarifies the present law recognizing the rights of a bystander or spectator to carry a concealed handgun at a parade or demonstration.
HB 407, introduced by Rep. Lauren Ventrella, allows non-residents to apply for and obtain a Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit.
SB 101, introduced by Sen. Blake Miguez, ensures constitutional carriers can carry firearms in more areas across the state by eliminating some gun-free zones.
Your NRA-ILA will be monitoring these bills and reporting if, and when, any are set for committee hearings in the Louisiana House or Senate. In the meantime, contact your state lawmakers and urge them to SUPPORT these Pro-gun bills!
