This week, the Iowa Senate passed Senate File 106, allowing the carry of a loaded firearm while operating a snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The bill now heads to Governor Kim Reynolds’ desk for her signature. Please use the Take Action button below to contact Governor Reynolds and respectfully urge her to sign SF 106 into law.
SF 106 strikes out the language in the current law that prohibits the carrying of a loaded firearm while operating a snowmobile or ATV. This change allows an operator to drive a snowmobile or ATV with loaded firearms if their conduct is otherwise lawful. Hunting off one of these vehicles is still prohibited unless otherwise authorized.
