This week, the Senate Judiciary C Committee voted to advance House Bill 289, to enhance and strengthen protections for firearm and ammunition industry members in Louisiana. HB 289 is now eligible for a vote on the Senate floor next week.
HB 289, authored by Rep. Dewith Carrier, is a pro-Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) bill that further protects the firearm and ammunition industry from being held responsible for the third-party misuse of products they manufacture or sell. This legislation will make Louisiana a more attractive environment for firearm and ammunition-related businesses.
