On June 3, the House voted 72-23 to pass SB 101, pro-gun legislation expanding our Second Amendment rights in Louisiana. SB 101 will now return to the Senate for concurrence after the House added a minor amendment. In addition, the Senate Judiciary C Committee voted to advance two pro-gun bills, HB 393 and HB 407, to the Senate floor for a vote. Please click the TAKE ACTION link below to contact your State Senator and urge them to support HB 393 and HB 407.
SB 101, authored by Sen. Blake Miguez, ensures constitutional carriers and out-of-state concealed carry permit holders who have reciprocity with Louisiana can carry firearms in more areas across the state by eliminating some gun-free zones.
HB 393, authored by Rep. Dennis Bamburg, clarifies the present law recognizing the rights of a bystander or spectator to carry a concealed handgun at a parade or demonstration.
HB 407, authored by Rep. Lauren Ventrella, allows non-residents to apply for and obtain a Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit.
