Louisiana: NRA Presents Senator Blake Miguez with Defender of Freedom Award

In a special ceremony, Senator Blake Miguez received the Defender of Freedom Award from the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action in recognition of his tireless efforts to defend liberty and protect the interests of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen in Louisiana.

Since his time in the Louisiana Legislature began in 2015, Senator Miguez has been a strong and steady advocate for the cherished Second Amendment rights of not just the citizens of his district, but of all Louisianans. As a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and a World Champion sharpshooter, Senator Miguez has worked tirelessly to be a voice for firearms owners. Since first elected, Senator Miguez has taken the lead in preserving and protecting the Second Amendment through his sponsorship of numerous pro-gun bills, including state firearm law preemption, carrying firearms for self-defense in churches, the Firearm Industry Non-Discrimination Act, and the Second Amendment Financial Privacy Act, among others.

In 2024, Senator Miguez was instrumental in the development and passage of Louisiana's Constitutional Carry legislation, SB 1, which was signed into law on March 5, 2024. Without his steadfast dedication, Constitutional Carry would not have passed the Louisiana legislature.

As a recipient of the NRA-ILA Defender of Freedom Award, Senator Miguez joins an esteemed list of individuals who have gone "above and beyond" in the fight to defend the Second Amendment.

Please join us in congratulating Senator Blake Miguez for receiving NRA-ILA's Defender of Freedom Award.
