Florida: Liability Protection Bill Assigned to Committee

SUPPORT HOUSE BILL 1551!

Anti-gun states have set the firearms industry in their sites, working to dismantle industry protections and promote frivolous lawsuits that could drive lawful firearm industry members out of business. The Florida legislature is working to ensure law-abiding citizens have the ability to exercise their Second Amendment rights by actively working on legislative measures to preserve that right. This year, companion bills Senate Bill 1748 and House Bill 1551 have been introduced to provide protections at the state level to compliment the PLCAA on the federal level.

Recently, House Bill 1551, was referred to House Judiciary Committee and assigned to the Civil Justice & Claims Subcommittee for consideration. A policy hearing is anticipated to take place next week. Please contact members of the committee and urge them to SUPPORT H 1551 by using the TAKE ACTION button below.

H 1551 provides that a firearm manufacturer is not liable for certain torts based on an absence or presence of certain features, mechanisms, or standards not required under federal law. This protects manufacturers from nuisance lawsuits based off of nebulous standards created by bureaucrats.

Please stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website and your inbox for updates.
