On Tuesday, April 14th, the Senate Judiciary Committee will be holding a hearing on House Bill 1793, legislation eliminating gun free zones on state funded college and university properties that currently leave young adults across the Granite State defenseless. Please take a moment to use the TAKE ACTION button below to contact your Senator and urge them to SUPPORT H.B. 1793.
H.B. 1793 would prevent publicly funded colleges and universities from maintaining or adopting policies that restrict the right of students from possessing both firearms and nonlethal defensive weapons like pepper spray and stun guns on campus. As is the case in most colleges and universities, schools like UNH cannot possibly adequately secure an entire campus. Stripping young adults of the rights they enjoy outside of that campus is more than the loss of a right, it leaves those openly defenseless so they can be preyed upon or targeted. Those policies must end.
