Throughout his distinguished career in public service, which includes 12 years as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama, Sessions has exhibited the utmost respect for our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms and has worked tirelessly to prosecute those who use guns in the commission of a crime. Despite the best efforts of some to disrupt the hearing and promote scurrilous allegations, an image of the real Sessions came through during the hearing - that of a principled statesman devoted to our Constitution. |

The bill addresses our nation’s patchwork of concealed carry reciprocity laws, where each state determines which states’ permits, if any, they will recognize. |

On Thursday, the NRA-supported case Peruta v. California took an important step towards restoring the right to bear arms in California. The plaintiffs in the case, California gun owners and the California Rifle and Pistol Association, filed a petition for writ of certiorari asking the United States Supreme Court to hear the case. |

Despite being described as “assault weapon reform,” the proposed legislation is nothing short of a ban of many common, legal firearms and “large-capacity magazines” currently possessed by millions of law-abiding Americans for self-defense, hunting, and recreational shooting. |
