Park Service Proposing to Spend
Taxpayer Dollars on Sharpshooters Instead of Opening to Hunting!

Tomorrow morning, July 13, the Colorado Wildlife Commission will be meeting to discuss a resolution on the reduction of the elk herd in Rocky Mountain National Park. The National Park Service is currently proposing to spend up to $18 million in taxpayer dollars to hire sharpshooters to reduce an overpopulated elk heard within the Park. As you know, hunters willingly and effectively provide their game management services throughout the rest of Colorado while producing revenue for the state through their license and tag fees. Hunters should be used, not hired guns!
To its credit, the Colorado Wildlife Commission will be submitting a proposal for consideration that recommends to the Park Service that hunters like you be used to reduce the elk herd within the Park's boundaries instead of sharpshooters. The Commission needs your support!
