Gun control radicals in the Minnesota legislature continue their shell game, and have moved their anti-gun priorities to another bill. Whether this is simply due to indecisiveness, the continued failure of the measures to pass, or an active attempt to mislead law-abiding Minnesotans, we leave up to you.
This week, the DFL took action in the Senate Finance committee to put what they called a "gun violence prevention package" onto SF 3655, the semi-automatic and magazine ban that had also been two separate bills. The following day, the Senate Finance committee then took the same language and rolled it into SF 4067, the omnibus judicial branch supplemental appropriations bill. SF 4067 is now the vehicle for the gun control package. This package includes a ban on modern sporting rifles, ban magazines that hold over 17 rounds, ban home built firearms, ban certain types of triggers, places limits on self-defense rights, and expands red flag laws.
SF 4067 will have a Senate floor debate and vote on Monday, May 4, starting at 11:00 am. Please contact your Senator and urge them to vote NO on SF 4067 by using the TAKE ACTION button below.
Earlier this session we also alerted on the governor‘s efforts to get a new tax on firearms and ammunition. This attempt failed in the taxation committee for now, and has not been made a part of the omnibus tax bill.
