Vital Right-to-Carry reform legislation will see action on the floor of the Kansas State House of Representatives on Monday, March 19, at 11:00 A.M.
Due to the misinterpretation of current state law by various Kansas cities, numerous local ordinances have been passed banning Right-to-Carry permit holders from carrying in several places not included in state law.
The original intent of Senate Bill 418 was to prevent cities from regulating Right-to-Carry in any way. That responsibility was solely reserved for the state for the purpose of uniformity to prevent any confusion for permit holders regarding where a permit holder can and cannot carry concealed.
NRA worked closely with a bi-partisan duo of legislators, State Representatives Candy Ruff (D-40) and Gary Hayzlett (R-122), to craft legislation, House Bill 2528, which removes this confusing language and returns us to the original intent of the bill. No longer will cities be allowed to misinterpret sections of the law and to regulate and enforce ordinances more stringent than state law.
