Nevada: Nye County Recreational Shooting Areas Are In Danger Of Being Closed!

Friday, April 6, 2007

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) plans to close certain areas in Nye County to recreational shooting.  The BLM's stated reason for the closure is the rapid increase in population and growth of Pahrump, which the agency says has created conflicts between new residential owners and target shooters.

The public comment period has been extended to Tuesday, May 1st.  It is imperative that BLM hears from you and everyone you know who believes in the protection of the shooting sports on public lands.  Even though BLM is exempting hunting from the shooting closure, it is safe to say that those who complain about target shooting will soon go after hunting.

NRA’s comments to the BLM can be found by clicking here.  Comments should be sent to BLM’s Las Vegas Field Office, 4701 North Torrey Pines, Las Vegas, NV 89130.
