On Friday, September 28, at 1:30 pm in Room 1113 on the 1st Floor of the Capitol, the Judiciary Committee will be conducting an interim study and public hearing on firearm preemption legislation.
Preemption laws relating to firearms create uniform standards across the state by not allowing local governments to pass any ordinance more restrictive than state law. This will keep law-abiding gun owners from unknowingly violating a local law while traveling throughout the state.
Similar legislation was voted down by the Judiciary Committee this past legislative session. It is vitally important to the for law-abiding gun owners to encourage this committee to pass preemption legislation in the upcoming legislative session.
Please plan on attending the interim study and public hearing to provide the committee with more information about the critical importance of this legislation and the need for consistent firearms laws throughout the state. If you are unable to attend, contact information for the Committee can be found below.
