Despite pressure from anti-hunting extremists, Governor Martin O’Malley (D) has decided to allow Maryland’s black bear hunt to continue in 2007. Allowing the hunt to continue is the most effective and humane method of controlling the black bear population in Maryland; especially in western Maryland where there are a growing number of human-bear confrontations and more bears are being killed by vehicles than by hunters.
Please take a moment to contact Governor O’Malley’s office at (410) 974-3901, or toll free (800) 811-8336, or use this form to email the Governor and thank him for allowing the 2007 Black Bear Hunt and for protecting the rights of sportsmen in Maryland.
