Please Contact Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong Today!
Several weeks ago we reported that Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong would remove the firearm serial number “requirement” from his Right-to-Carry permit applications. In emails to his constituents, he indicated it was his intent to amend his serial number “requirement”.
However, when contacted by NRA staff last week, representatives stated that the application would NOT be amended to remove the serial number “requirement” and the Sheriff is keeping it as an option on the applications. We were also told that applicants would not be informed that they are not required to include a serial number on their application. Nevada’s Right-to-Carry statute does not require applicants to include the serial number of their firearms on an application for a permit to carry.
Unfortunately, Sheriff Furlong's actions have done nothing but add unnecessary confusion to the application process. Please contact Sheriff Ken Furlong immediately and ask him to remove the serial number option from his permit application form. You can reach the Sheriff at (775) 887-2020 or [email protected].
