Senate Resolution 14, sponsored State Senator Shirley Love (D-11), is a resolution requesting the National Park Service not to ban hunting in the New River Gorge National River. This resolution was sent to the Senate Natural Resources Committee.
The House of Delegates is working on a similar resolution to maintain the tradition of hunting in the New River Gorge National River area. Hunting has been permitted there since 1978 and serves as an economic boost to the surrounding areas. Hunting in the New River Gorge National River area also maintains a healthy wildlife population and allows more people the opportunity to hunt in West Virginia.
